Understanding Division of Fractions

When we divide fractions, we use a special trick: "Keep, Change, Flip!"

This means we keep the first fraction, change the division sign to multiplication, and flip the second fraction upside down.

 

The Steps

 

1. Keep the first fraction the same

2. Change ÷ to ×

3. Flip the second fraction (reciprocal)

4. Multiply across (numerators × numerators, denominators × denominators)

5. Simplify if possible
