 Integer Multiplication:

Learning Objective:
Students will understand and apply rules for multiplying integers, including positive and negative numbers.

Key Rules to Remember:

  • Positive × Positive = Positive
  • Negative × Negative = Positive
  • Positive × Negative = Negative
  • Negative × Positive = Negative

Examples:

1.    Two Positive Numbers:

·         4×3=12

·         Just like regular multiplication!

2.    Two Negative Numbers:

·         −2×−5=10

·         Remember: negative times negative equals positive

3.    Positive × Negative:

·         6×−4=−24

·         Different signs result in a negative answer
