FACTORS & MULTIPLES

FACTOR:

  

    A factor of a number is an exact divisor of that number.

                                          or

    If a number x divides another number y exactly, then we say that x is a factor of y.

Example:Factors of 4 are

   Factors of 4 are : 1, 2,4 

                             

                          

1 to 50 numbers factors:

Properties of factor:

• 1 is the least factor of every number.
• Every number is a factor of itself.
• Number of factors of a given number is finite.

MULTIPLE:

  

    A multiple of a number is a number obtained by multiplying it with a natural number.

                                          or

    If a number x divides another number y exactly, then we say that y is the multiple of x .

EXAMPLE:

 Multiples of 2 are: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, ...

 Multiples of 3 are: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 ,...

 1 to 10 numbers multiples

Properties of multiples of a number:

1. Every number is a multiple of itself and is the least multiple of itself.

2. Every multiple of a number is greater than or equal to that number.

3. Number of multiples of a given number is infinite.
